When we moved to the farm 10 years ago from Oban it was just about derelict and since then we have been steadily renovating it and trying to make a living from our 24 acres. In the past we have had dairy goats and a local craft shop. Now we are concentrating on the poultry, waterfowl and plants.
Some of the breeds we have are getting very rare in the utility stocks (these are the types of birds that are still productive as well as being decorative) and we hope that we can do our bit in revitalising these breeds so that they will be available to generations after us. For this reason we do not have all the possible breeds (several hundred breeds and colours are classified in the various poultry fancy standards) but are breeding and rearing good quality, healthy stock of about 30 at the moment. We hope you will enjoy visiting our farm - we have laid paths around the pens for your comfort and provided information about each breed so you can find out more as you wander around the fields overlooking the tidal bay and the mountains of Morvern. The birds will come and greet you and love getting titbits of feed. There are so many colours, sizes and shape to see - we are sure you will be surprised. Across the fences in the other fields you may be able to spot our small flock of Jacob sheep - see where we grow our plants and vegetables - and watch the ponies that live here out grazing. Now that Tim is no longer a full time Coastguard officer - he is looking forward to running his garden railway for you to see. The kids of all ages love it. It runs a scale mile around the lawn - where you are welcome to bring your picnic and lunch on the seats provided in the fresh Highland air. directions to the farm facilities on the farm ![]() For the gardeners we have a small hardy plant nursery and covered area for you to browse amongst quality young plants well grown in Argyll. |
We have a wide selection of grasses, rhododendrons, heathers, alpines, perennials, herbs, trees, roses, planters, bulbs etc. I am enjoying growing really interesting varieties as well as the more common ones.
